Find the Courage to Dream, Manifest, and Live a Life by Your Own Design

Personalized Yoga Therapy sessions that weave ancient wisdom and modern psychology to guide you back to your true self.

    Vaishnavi

Something is off. You know it.

Maybe you can't quite name it. It's more of a feeling. A fog that won't lift, a knot in the chest with no clear origin. You're showing up to your life, going through the motions. Some days you say "I'm fine" so many times it almost starts to feel true.

Or maybe you can name it, all too well. The anxiety that has become your default setting. The pattern you keep repeating with different people and different circumstances. The grief, the disconnection, the sense that you've lost the thread of yourself somewhere along the way.

You've tried things. Maybe therapy. Maybe yoga. Maybe just pushing through, which, frankly, gets exhausting.

Here's what I've found after 22 years inside these practices: most of us aren't broken. We're just disconnected from our bodies, our feelings, our source, our truth. And no amount of fixing treats a disconnection. You have to actually find your way back.

    That's what we do here.

    Yoga Therapy Session

This is not a yoga class.

No ambient music, no performance cues, no one reminding you to hold the pose a little longer. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just not this.

Yoga Therapy is a one-on-one, deeply personalized practice that draws on the full range of yoga's tools (asana, pranayama, meditation, sacred philosophy, and the map of the subtle body) to work with you as a whole person. Your nervous system. Your emotional patterns. Your history. Your hunger for something more aligned.

Think of it as the difference between taking a painkiller and understanding why the pain is there in the first place.

It is grounded enough to be practical. And rooted enough to touch the real thing.

    Vaishnavi practicing yoga outdoors

I don't teach these things. I've had to live them.

There are many skilled yoga teachers in the world. There are fewer who were born into the living tradition of it, mentored by Gurus in India from childhood, and have spent 22 years not only practicing but navigating the full complexity of a human life inside its philosophy: the trauma, the clarity, the dark nights, and the genuine moments of bliss.

I come to this work from two worlds, East and West, and I don't prefer one over the other. I hold a BA in Psychology, a Master's in Sociology, and have training in NLP, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and REBT. My formal training as a yoga teacher was in India in an ashram in Kerala (Yoga Alliance Certified RYT 500). I completed my formal yoga therapy program in Canada (IAYT 800) and am registered with the International Association of Yoga Therapy. Today, I teach in the 300 RYT teacher training program and the 300 and 500 hr yoga therapy programs.

What this means in practice: I can meet you in the language of the nervous system and the language of the soul, and I know when you need which one.

I'm also extremely relatable. I understand the courage it takes to look your own shadows in the face. I've done it. I do it. And I have immense respect for anyone who chooses to do the same.

I'm not going to pretend this work is comfortable. But I will tell you: it's worthwhile. And you don't have to figure it out alone.

    Words from students

    "

Vaishnavi is an exceptional yoga therapist and teacher. She brings a rare combination of deep knowledge, extensive experience, and genuine relatability to her work. Whether you're brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years, she has a remarkable ability to meet you exactly where you are and guide you toward what you need most.

What stands out most is her capacity to assess the whole person—not just the physical body. With a level of intuition, insight, and clarity that comes from years of dedicated study and practice, Vaishnavi is able to identify underlying patterns and offer practices that create meaningful, lasting change. Every recommendation feels thoughtful, personalized, and deeply relevant.

Her teachings extend far beyond the yoga mat. Through her guidance, I have gained tools that have supported me physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. She has a unique gift for helping people understand the larger lessons and opportunities for growth that may be present in their lives, while also providing practical, accessible ways to work with them.

What I appreciate most is that her approach is both profound and grounded. She can share complex yogic wisdom in a way that is easy to understand and immediately applicable to everyday life. Sessions with Vaishnavi don't just leave you feeling better in the moment—they leave you with a deeper understanding of yourself and tangible tools that continue to support you long afterward.

I wholeheartedly recommend Vaishnavi to anyone seeking a yoga therapist or teacher who is compassionate, insightful, highly skilled, and truly committed to helping people feel empowered, heal, and thrive.

Working with Vaishnavi has been instrumental for me, in learning how to relate to my experiences of self and world with greater ease.

Vaishnavi's teaching has guided me to direct realizations, both through and beyond the body and mind, that have empowered me to become more happy, honest, and confident in life.

As a teacher, Vaishnavi is blissful, hilarious, wise, and sharp! The clarity that comes from working with her is so refreshing, even in moments of working through big emotion: because it is arrived to with such big love!

Vaishnavi's teaches holistic yoga - through a mix of Vedantic philosophy, the physiological genius of Asanas, Pranayama, and Devotion. Her approach has helped me to transmute physical pain and psychological dis-ease in ways I find hard to articulate; I am beyond grateful to have always felt so safe and inspired in her sessions!

If you are looking to meet the yogic tradition in a way that embraces and honours all the complexities of this human experience, of body, mind, and spirit; I highly recommend working with Vaishnavi. The mix of fun, discovery, and healing in her classes is always a true delight!

Vaishnavi's passion and love for her work and people comes through the care she takes for her students. I really appreciate her patience with my progress, ability to spot what needs to be worked on, detailed explanations, and the cozy environment she creates. I'd recommend anyone to try yoga therapy with her.

I am not exaggerating when I say that Vaishnavi changed my life. Through her expertly crafted yoga therapy sessions, she helped me reconnect with something much bigger than myself and guided me back to parts of myself that I had lost a long time ago.

The way Vaish holds space is truly special. She has a calm, grounded and deeply compassionate presence that immediately makes you feel safe and supported. At the same time, she has a remarkable ability to gently challenge you when you are not being fully honest with yourself, encouraging growth with kindness rather than judgement.

Vaish brings a wealth of knowledge to every session and has a beautiful way of weaving together wisdom, intuition and practical guidance. Each experience is incredibly personal and thoughtfully tailored, leaving you feeling seen, understood and empowered.

What sets Vaish apart is not only her expertise, but the genuine care she has for the people she works with. Her work goes far beyond physical practice; it touches the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of healing in a way that creates lasting change.

The impact Vaish and her work have had on my life is something I will carry with me forever. I am deeply grateful for her guidance and cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone seeking a more meaningful connection with themselves and a truly transformative healing experience.

Wow, where to start. Vaishnavi has an innate ability to discern exactly what I needed. She listened so openly and deliberately and this made me feel so comfortable in sharing. She listened and discerned exactly what I needed but offered options so that the offering would benefit me most. The offering that she put together was so intuative and I had some visceral feelings, the words were coming to me so easily and I credit that to Vaishnavi's approach. I felt so connected and held during our session and felt a profound sense of groundedness. I loved her guiding in each pose.

The fluttering of the wings in butterfly felt like magic and she held so much space for me to notice what was coming up in each pose. I left our session feeling like I was walking on air but firmly rooted in the present. She cultivated a feeling of safety in my body which was so powerful. Thank you Vaishnavi!

Vaishnavi supported me through some very challenging times, and I cannot recommend her enough.

She is an exceptional listener who creates a safe space to be completely yourself. Her keen observation skills helped me see patterns and perspectives I had been missing, while her thoughtful communication brought clarity and comfort when I needed it most.

What I appreciated most was her ability to combine compassion with practical tools. Through simple yogic practices and breathing techniques, she helped me navigate life's challenges with greater calm, awareness, and resilience.

If you are looking for someone who listens deeply, communicates thoughtfully, and genuinely cares about your wellbeing, Vaishnavi is truly wonderful.

I walked into Vaishnavi's class with zero idea of what I'd signed up for. I thought yoga was for old people who had slowed down.

She changed that completely. Through guided meditation, she taught me the power of intention — how a quiet, focused mind can shift everything. Through the asanas, she helped me find both stillness and strength.

What surprised me most was realizing how little I knew about what my own mind and body are capable of. She didn't just teach poses. She taught awareness, patience, and presence.

I'm deeply grateful to have begun this journey with such a great teacher. She made the first step gentle, honest, and unforgettable.

As a school principal today, I find many of my thoughts and actions inspired by what I learned on the mat under Vaishnavi's guidance. So grateful for it.

I had an amazing experience working with Vaishnavi as my yoga therapist. She has deep wisdom, passion and a breadth of knowledge. She took a thoughtful, holistic and personalized approach, meeting me where I was at with great care and encouragement. I could really feel she was invested in my healing. The lessons I've learned from her are still with me today years later and I'm forever grateful for this.

You're carrying something. I've got you.

People come to 1:1 Yoga Therapy for all kinds of reasons. Some arrive with a clear diagnosis. Some arrive with nothing but a vague sense that something needs to change. Both are a perfectly complete place to begin.

This work is particularly suited for those experiencing:

    • ✦Anxiety, the kind that has become your baseline, that you've started to mistake for just 'how you are'
    • ✦PTSD or trauma you haven't yet found the right container for
    • ✦Disconnection from yourself, from your body, your voice, your feelings, your sense of purpose
    • ✦Fear of taking up space, of speaking your truth, of being seen
    • ✦An inhibited sense of self and expression
    • ✦Stress and overwhelm that no amount of self-care has quite touched
    • ✦Chronic pain that carries emotional weight alongside the physical
    • ✦A desire to understand yourself more deeply, the real questions of who you are and why you are here

You don't need a background in yoga. You don't need to be spiritual. You just need to be willing to show up for yourself.

Each session is built entirely around you.

    Intake & Dialogue

We begin by talking. What are you carrying today? What have you been noticing? This is where we orient.

    Meditation & Breathwork

To ground and arrive fully before we go any deeper. Pranayama is one of the most powerful tools for regulating the nervous system, and we use it well.

    Asana

Movement designed specifically for you, not a generic flow. The postures are selected for your body, your emotional state, and what the practice is asking of you on that day.

    Philosophical Dialogue

Woven throughout the session. This is where the real map-making happens, where the ancient frameworks of the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras, and the Chakra and Kundalini systems become practical tools for your actual life.

    Savasana

    Rest, integration, stillness. Non-negotiable.

    Home Considerations

Simple, specific tools for you to carry forward. The work doesn't stop when the session ends.

    The blend that actually works.

Most modalities work with one dimension of you at a time. Talk therapy addresses the mind. A yoga class addresses the body. Meditation addresses, well, sometimes it's the mind, sometimes it's a way of avoiding it.

Yoga Therapy, as I practice it, works with all of it at once, in relationship with each other. The body holds what the mind hasn't processed. The breath reveals what words can't reach. Philosophy gives the intellect something worthy to chew on while the body does its work.

    I draw on:

    • ✦Yogic practices: asana, pranayama, mantra, meditation
    • ✦Chakra and Kundalini frameworks: the subtle body as a map for understanding yourself
    • ✦Ancient texts: the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Vedantic and Kashmiri Shaivite philosophy
    • ✦Modern psychology: NLP, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, REBT
    Yoga practice in nature

Not as separate tools that take turns. As a woven whole. Because you are a woven whole.

    Vaishnavi

    A life in this practice.

I found yoga at twelve years old, in India, where I was born and raised. It didn't feel like something I discovered. It felt like something I recognized.

For the 22 years since, through everything, including things I wouldn't wish on anyone, this practice has been the thread. It has taken me through my own trauma, my own seasons of chaos and stillness, my own long journey back to myself. I don't teach from a place of "I have it all figured out." I teach from a place of having walked enough of this terrain to know the way, and to know when the terrain is different for you.

I have lived in both East and West, and I understand the nuances of both. I believe in the Oneness of these traditions and refuse to sacrifice one for the other. This isn't a philosophical position. It's how I actually think, what I actually integrate, and what I bring to every session.

The only thing that matters to me in this work is that you find your way back to yourself, to the part of you that existed before the overwhelm, the patterns, the noise. Yoga calls this Sat Chit Ananda: Existence, Consciousness, Bliss. I call it home.

I am here to help you remember the way.

    Session Format

Your first session is 90 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 60 to 90 minutes. I recommend committing to a minimum of 3 sessions, as lasting change is not a single-session event.

For deeper, sustained work, particularly through the Chakra Alignment pathway, packages of 8 to 12 sessions are available. Weekly sessions or a twice-monthly rhythm are both effective approaches.

    Location

Sessions are available online, in person in Vancouver, or as a mix of both.

The sliding scale exists because access to this work matters more to me than a fixed price point. If cost is a barrier, reach out. We'll find a way.

A note on insurance: Yoga Therapy is not yet covered by most insurance providers in North America, though the IAYT is actively working toward full recognition. The field is moving. It just hasn't arrived there yet.

    What I can promise you.

"You will come to know yourself better. You will either understand more of who you are, or be introduced to more of who you are. Every session will feel like an honest mirror, one that also whispers gentle love to you."

    Come as you are.

If any of this has landed, if something in you said yes while reading, I'd love to hear from you.

You can book your first session or simply reach out with a question. There is no pressure, no script. Just a conversation to begin.
